Home washing is fine if you avoid fabric softeners, bleach, and starch, which can coat FR fibres and reduce their protective properties. Use mild detergent, wash at 60°C or below, and hang dry. Check the garment label for specific laundering instructions from the manufacturer.
Steel toes offer maximum impact protection but conduct heat and cold, making them uncomfortable in extreme weather. Composite toes are lighter, non-conductive, and better suited for electrical work or airport security settings. Both meet SANS impact standards, so the choice comes down to your environment and comfort preferences.
